Priority two

Meaningful Community Engagement

Listen. Include. Collaborate.

← All priorities

Our schools belong to the entire community.

Families, students, educators, staff, PTAs, community organizations, and residents all have valuable perspectives. Good governance means creating meaningful opportunities for those voices to be heard.

I will work to

  • Strengthen communication between schools, families, communities, and the School Board.
  • Expand opportunities for parents, students, educators, and staff to participate in decision-making.
  • Make engagement more accessible to families who face barriers to participation.
  • Strengthen partnerships with PTAs, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure community feedback is considered and communicated back to the community.

My commitment

People should not have to fight to be heard. Our schools should be places where community voices are welcomed, respected, and valued.

Signature commitments

COMMITMENT 4

Make Listening a Leadership Practice

Community engagement should happen before decisions are made, not after.

My commitment: Create more meaningful opportunities for students, families, educators, staff, and community members to share concerns and ideas before major decisions affecting schools are finalized.

COMMITMENT 5

Build Stronger School and Community Partnerships

Schools cannot do everything alone.

My commitment: Strengthen partnerships among FCPS, PTAs and PTOs, families, civic organizations, businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders to expand resources and opportunities for students.

COMMITMENT 6

Make Transparency & Accountability the Standard

Trust grows when people understand how decisions are made.

My commitment: Advocate for clear communication about School Board decisions, priorities, budgets, and outcomes, and make it easier for families and residents to understand how decisions affect their schools.
